Introduction to Virtual reality(VR)

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual reality (VR) is a technology, which allows a user to interact with a computer-simulated environment, whether that environment is a simulation of the real world or an imaginary world. It is the key to experiencing, feeling and touching the past, present and the future. It is the medium of creating our own world, our own customized reality. It could range from creating a video game to having a virtual stroll around the universe, from walking through our own dream house to experiencing a walk on an alien planet. With virtual reality, we can experience the most intimidating and grueling situations by playing safe and with a learning perspective.[1]

Background:

How did we arrive to VR as it exists today? We start with a history that predates what most people would consider to be VR, but includes many aspects crucial to VR that have been among us for tens of thousands of years [2]. VR is a simulations made through technology in an environment that resemble to the real world. Also as imaginary worlds. Most of VR programs create a visual and better experience for their audience that is kind of immersive entertainment. Now a day it is been used in other entertainment environments also. The concept of VR has been used not only in gaming field but also in military and medical fields. We started to make use of virtual reality today but this has been around for many years already. The concept of imagination is originated from previous decades before that it was in some movies that put people into monitors for becoming part of our gaming world. When we consider the history of virtual reality we must take into account that all computer graphics could be considered to simulate the real world and thus the first ever computer designed images could be considered to be part of the history of Virtual Reality.During the 1990’s VR had become very popular in the world. At that time, it was one of best topic for movies and also for the virtual reality games. An attempt is made by Morton heiling during the 1950’s who was a cinematographer. The aim of attempt is to simulate the different senses which became idea of that now we known as Virtual reality. A machine named Sensorama is used by same person Morton heiling. The basic use of this machine is for providing visual treat to audience.By 1965, another inventor, Ivan Sutherland, offered “the Ultimate Display,” a head-mounted device that he suggested would serve as a “window into a virtual world.” [3]

Existing Solution:

Facebook:

Facebook has already used virtual reality and 360° technologies into videos on their platform. Pinterest is on way to follow as things progress. On August 17, 2017, there was an announcement made my Facebook that they are going to make partnership with Oculus (Oculus Rift - VR) and started working on the production of the smart glasses (AR) via initial patents. [4]

Google:

Google has also joining in the virtual reality and 360° video battle with help of YouTube. Because they are directly rivaling Facebook and Pinterest. Google has been working on VR technology. Both giants are partnering with HTC and creating their own VR headset (Daydream), Google has various stakeholders in VR technology. [4]

Virtual Reality(VR) in Gaming :

Video games have always been at the forefront of the potential uses of VR. Early gaming system included Nintendo’s virtual boy and virtual machines produced by virtuality group. The modern day wave of forthcoming VR headsets includes the Oculus Rift VR headset, Gear VR by Samsung. All of the devices take advantage of high quality displays providing a wide field of view and ability to track user head movement to create high level of immersion, perfect for video game of feature.
